Road plans being discussed for M63 in St. Joseph

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

St. Joseph, Michigan is about to undergo a big road project downtown.

MDOT crews are hosting an open house next week to share their plans for the rebuilding of Main Street. WSJM reports that the stretch of Main, or M-63, will be a huge undertaking that’s on the schedule for 2027.

The work is expected to include converting Port and Ship Streets into two-way streets, rather than two one-way streets. The stretch of M-63 between the Blossomland Bridge and Central Avenue would also be rebuilt.

The plan is still being developed and the public will have several opportunities to share their thoughts.
