Two drivers injured in head-on crash near Nappanee

Two women were hospitalized following a head-on crash just east of Nappanee.

The collision occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Monday, April 14, at the intersection of County Roads 15 and 46, approximately five miles east of city limits.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 2016 Honda Accord traveling southbound on CR 15 crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Impala. The impact caused the Impala to roll before coming to rest upright.

The driver of the Honda, a 72-year-old woman from Leesburg, was transported to Goshen Hospital with chest pain and difficulty breathing.

The Impala’s driver, a 67-year-old Milford woman, was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with neck and back pain and trouble breathing. Authorities said her injuries were not life-threatening.

A passenger in the Impala, a 38-year-old Milford man, sustained a laceration to his right hand and was also taken to Goshen Hospital.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and the crash remains under investigation. No citations were issued at the scene.
