A parent brought a gun to her child’s elementary school and threatened a teacher over an assignment about same-sex relationships, according to police.
Officers say Carrie Rivers showed up at Valley Mills Elementary Wednesday morning, triggering a school alert. They found a gun on her waistband.
Rivers told officers she didn’t realize she had it on her and admitted to bringing it to the school before. Staff confirmed she had been seen with a gun during a previous visit.
Bringing a firearm onto school grounds is a crime.

It’s about time! Thank you for standing up for what right.
Seems a little misleading. Did the parent actually threaten the teacher with the gun, or was the parent simply carrying the gun and the teacher felt “threatened” when the parent asked them to stop teaching same-sex relationships to her child?
There is a pretty big difference between those two versions of events.
Yes they sent them an email and a fb message after leaving the school property saying that they will need to say goodbye to their kids.
“What makes this mother’s arrest for bringing a gun to school particularly concerning is the apparent misunderstanding at its core. The teacher explained to police that the assignment prompting the incident was simply about different types of flags. She had pointed to a rainbow “Be Kind” flag in the classroom as an example of a non-national flag. Moreover, the teacher had already allowed Rivers’ daughter to skip the assignment entirely.”
It was not a pride flag.
It should be a crime to groom children.
