A homeless man has been sentenced to one year in jail for his role in a January shooting in southwestern Michigan.
Joseph Allen Ward, 21, pleaded guilty to felonious assault and tampering with evidence in Cass County Circuit Court.
Besides the jail sentence, he’s been ordered to pay over $2,100 in fines and costs. The incident happened at a home on O’Keefe Road, where Ward and another man got into an argument with a woman. She was shot twice-in the neck and shoulder.
Leader Publications reports the Prosecutor said Ward nearly faced a murder charge after handing the gun to the shooter because the victim was “irritating” them and they wanted her to “shut up.”
