The City of Elkhart has announced the grand unveiling of its new multi-million dollar streetscape project.
It’s happening at the I-80 Exit 92 interchange, making a significant enhancement to the city’s western gateway.
The investment will cost about $8 million and will improve the aesthetic appeal, functionality and safety of a critical corridor for residents, businesses and millions of visitors each year.
It includes a vibrant entrance to Elkhart, elevating the city’s image and perception for the millions of vehicle trips taken annually.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the project will be on Monday, June 16 at the new Green Space and Micro Park in front of the Cracker Barrel at 10:30 a.m.

Complete waste of time. Who will stop in Elkhart because of the months long boondoggle on Cassopolis Street. Citizens will NEVER get their wasted time sitting in traffic back. People stop here to get a room for a ND game or stop at a restaurant they saw advertised along the highway or something they found online. Chick-Fil-A will be more of a draw than that abortion constructed on Cassopolis Street on the bridge over the Toll Road. Fire all you stupid advisors pining away to spend other people’s money and fix the potholes and put in turn lanes.
And stop narrowing the streets to slow people down. Even slow cars aren’t going to shop on Main Street. All they are doing is driving more customers away by making the area impassable.
