The Indiana State Police conducted a two-night “Wolfpack Patrol” over the first weekend of summer, targeting speeding and reckless driving in St. Joseph County.
The operation, held Friday and Saturday, June 20-21, focused heavily on the Cleveland Road and State Road 23 area in Granger following numerous complaints about speeding vehicles and motorcycles.
Troopers issued 80 tickets and 81 warnings over the two nights. The patrols also led to nine OWI arrests, two warrant arrests, 33 misdemeanor arrests, and 14 felony arrests. Ten people were booked into jail, while charges for 12 others will be submitted to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office. Officers also assisted other agencies 15 times.
Four individuals were arrested for reckless driving – two of them motorcyclists – with speeds clocked between 74 and 102 miles per hour. Another motorcyclist was stopped for speeding and found to have never obtained a driver’s license.
