A four-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks and two passenger vehicles disrupted traffic on U.S. 20 near County Roads 7 and 9.
The collision happened shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, when a semi-truck reportedly experienced brake failure as traffic slowed in a construction zone. The truck struck a stopped Nissan Xterra, pushing it into a Jeep Wrangler. The semi then veered off the south side of the road before coming back onto the highway and colliding with another stopped semi.
Two drivers were injured in the crash. The driver of the Nissan suffered lacerations and head pain, while the driver of the Jeep reported neck and head pain. Both were wearing seatbelts. The drivers of the two semis were not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
