A Goshen man has been sentenced to 58 years in prison for the murder of his wife.

45-year-old Hector Duran Gomez pleaded guilty to killing his wife, 45-year-old Alma Bermeo in October.

Court records describe the murder, which followed a verbal argument. It was back in October when Bermeo told a friend about the argument with her husband.

She had a no-contact order against Gomez and a pending domestic battery charge.

When she didn’t respond to calls, her friend called the police for a welfare check. Officers found Bermeo’s body in the backyard shed the next day.
