LaPorte County deputies responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash late Sunday morning near the intersection of County Roads 800 South and 900 West.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 a.m. when a green 2001 Ford Ranger, driven by 31-year-old Rebecca Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went off the roadway while traveling eastbound on County Road 800 South. The vehicle struck the gravel shoulder west of County Road 900 West, prompting Kuiper to overcorrect.

The truck began sliding sideways before rolling multiple times at the intersection. It eventually came to a stop in a nearby field after leaving the south side of the road.

Kuiper was ejected during the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and toxicology results are pending.
