8-year-old boy injured in Elkhart car-bicycle collision

An 8-year-old boy was injured in a car-versus-bicycle crash in Elkhart.

The collision occurred around 8:38 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the intersection of Warren Street and Shore Avenue. According to police, the Elkhart boy was riding his silver and green bicycle eastbound on Warren Street when he failed to yield at a posted yield sign. He collided with a northbound 2016 Kia driven by a 60-year-old Tennessee woman, who had the right of way.

The child sustained swelling to his arm and abrasions to his hip. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. The Tennessee woman was not hurt.

Her vehicle had minor damage to the front passenger side.
