South Bend School Board votes to keep utilizing Clay High School building

(Tommie Lee/MNC)

The South Bend School Board voted, 5-2, this week, to keep using Clay High School for school-related functions, even as a legal fight over ownership continues.

The district is appealing a state ruling from last year that allows the Career Academy of South Bend to buy the building for one dollar under Indiana’s “unused buildings” law.

Supporters of the board’s decision say keeping the building active strengthens their case in court to retain ownership.
