An Elkhart man was sentenced for meth possession last week.

53-year-old Ricky Shelton was arrested in June of 2024 after being stopped on his motorcycle for disregarding a stop sign.

During the stop, police say he had a suspension on his license for failure to appear in court and failure to provide insurance.

The Goshen News says Shelton told police he had gotten his license back that day and was on his way to the police station to turn in illegal drugs a group of people had given him, but police say he was headed in the opposite direction of the department.

He was found with meth, synthetic marijuana, THC and syringes. He was sentenced to 10 years.
