Michigan City Police warn residents against ‘No Parking’ signs

Michigan City Police are warning residents against unauthorized “No Parking” signs.

They say as visitors head to Sheridan Beach and Lakeshore Drive areas, overflow parking has spilled into nearby residential streets.

Some frustrated residents have started placing homemade “No Parking” signs, cones and chairs in the public right-of-way, trying to stop visitors from parking near their homes.

However, police are warning residents that it is illegal to place signs or arrange for tows without proper authority, which residents do not have.

For now, officers will be patrolling the area and enforcing parking regulations.
