Elkhart County Prosecutor promotes Child Support Awareness Month

Elkhart County’s Prosecuting Attorney  is joining local and national child support agencies in recognizing August as Child Support Awareness Month.
Vicki Becker is putting a spotlight on the services her office provides to parents and guardians of minor children. These services include determining paternity, establishing and modifying child support and medical support orders, calculating past due support, locating non-custodial parents, and collecting and distributing child support payments. All services are offered free of charge to Indiana residents.
“Financial support of Indiana’s children is crucial to their well-being and ability to thrive during childhood,” said Becker. “My office is committed to ensuring parents provide financial security for their children. Consistent child support payments are vital for custodial families to achieve economic stability.”
The Indiana child support program, managed locally by county prosecutors, serves over 200,000 families across the state. In 2024, Indiana’s county prosecutors, county clerks, and the Indiana Child Support Bureau collectively distributed more than $498 million to families. Elkhart County alone distributed $21.7 million.
For more information or to enroll in child support services, contact the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Child Support Office at 574-522-3074 or the Child Support Bureau’s KIDSLINE at 800-840-8757.
