Scammers target local vendors

Scammers are targeting local vendors with fake emails offering booth space at the Bristol Corndog Festival, even though the event is already full.
Organizers say scammers have been emailing businesses, claiming spots remain if they pay quickly. The fraudulent emails, sent from a Gmail account pretending to represent the festival, requested mobile payments and asked for fees up to three times higher than the real cost.
Bristol, known as the corndog capital of the world, hosts the annual festival on September 6, featuring the Corn Dog King Contest, a wiener dog race, and a corndog eating competition.
