Rising costs, flat funding to slow U.S. 30 plans

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)
Rising costs and flat funding could slow plans to turn U.S. 30 into a limited-access freeway.
Governor Mike Braun says no solution has broad support, adding that even Indiana’s recently-increased gas tax won’t cover construction costs. He also rejected making U.S. 30 a toll road. Frequent stops along 30 have long caused safety issues and slowed transport.
Steel Dynamics, with a plant near the Allen/Whitley county line, has pledged up to $25 million dollars and some land to support improvements.
Braun said public-private partnerships could help move the project forward.

Isn’t this project the perfect project the Toll Road Sale profits was suppose to support?
Get the Toll Road money back from Marion/Hamilton County road projects.
That’s where the Toll Road money was stolen from to build up Marion/Hamilton County roads.
