Motorcyclist killed in late-night crash on County Road 16

A 21-year-old Elkhart man was killed late Friday night in a motorcycle crash on County Road 16, west of County Road 1.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before midnight on Friday, Aug. 15, when the man’s 2003 Yamaha motorcycle ran off the north side of the road, slid, and struck a mailbox. He was thrown into the roadway and struck by another westbound rider on a 2020 KTM dirt bike.

Deputies said Dreavin Richardson, 21, of Elkhart, who was on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second rider, a 20-year-old man from Granger, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with complaints of pain.

The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
