Driver injured after falling asleep at the wheel in Elkhart County crash

A Warsaw man was taken to the hospital early Saturday after falling asleep at the wheel and overturning his car.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the intersection of County Road 31 and County Road 50 East.

Deputies said the 25-year-old driver was heading north on County Road 31 when he drifted off the roadway, went down an embankment, and overturned his 2007 Mazda onto its roof.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, complained of pain and was transported to Goshen Hospital for treatment.
