Police in Elkhart are investigating after a man was found dead along the Riverwalk.

Officers were called to the 100 block of North Main Street just after 12 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, to assist medics with an unresponsive man discovered on the sidewalk north of McDonald’s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have since identified the deceased as 55-year-old Donald Shepherd.

The case remains an active and ongoing death investigation, according to the Elkhart Police Department.
