Elkhart Co. Prosecutor responds to cat cruelty protestors

In her latest statement, Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney Vickie Becker says “The investigation is closed.”

This comment comes after people gathered Wednesday outside the Elkhart County prosecutor’s office over the trash-compactor deaths of two cats at a Jayco plant in Middlebury.

The group, called The Meow Mission, is calling for action.

Becker says state law prevents charges when an animal threatens safety or damages property and says some people have threatened her staff without offering a legal path to press charges.

Those kittens were just trying to survive in this cruel world. And for those evil men to say they “damaged the properry” is a bit of a stretch . They were kittens, not mountain lions!!!! And even if they did, they didn’t deserve to have their little bodies smashed to death, bones breaking, eyes popping out and possible didn’t even die right away! The right thing to do was to trap them and bring them to a shelter, NOT brutally murder them ! And for the judge or prosecutor to say they died a painful.dearh, couldnt ba any farther from the truth! Shame on the prosecutor and the judge. These men MUST be held accountable to the unnecessary slaughter of 2 helpless kittens😠Yes, the case should be opened and a thorough investigation MUST be conducted. These kittens deserve justice!!! May they rest in peace 😥🩷
