The investigation is closed. That’s the latest statement from Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney Vickie Becker after people gathered on Wednesday, Aug. 27, outside the Elkhart County prosecutor’s office over the traxsh-compactor deaths of two cats at a Jayco plant in Middlebury.
The group, called The Meow Mission, is calling for action.
Becker says state law prevents charges when an animal threatens safety or damages property and says some people have threatened her staff without offering a legal path to press charges.
