Two people were injured in a rear-end collision on State Road 13, just north of County Road 40.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 9, when a northbound 2011 Ford Fusion, driven by a 17-year-old Middlebury girl, struck the back of a 2010 Nissan Altima that had stopped for a turning vehicle.
Deputies said the Fusion sustained heavy front-end damage, while the Altima had significant rear-end damage. The Altima’s driver and passenger both complained of head, neck, and back pain and were transported to Goshen Hospital for treatment.
The teen driver was not injured but was cited for following too closely and using a telecommunications device while driving.
