A Goshen man was arrested early after leading police on a high-speed chase and allegedly driving while impaired.
According to the Goshen Police Department, officers tried to stop the vehicle around 12 a.m. on Thursday, Sep. 11, near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 3rd Street for two traffic violations.
The driver, identified as Ryan Lewallen, 44, refused to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit.
Officers deployed tire deflation devices to disable the vehicle, bringing the chase to an end. Police say Lewallen showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests at the scene. He was taken to Goshen General Hospital for a blood draw, with results pending.
Lewallen was booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, operating while intoxicated, and reckless driving.
