South Bend schools held a budget work session on Wednesday afternoon, just before the school board meeting.
The district’s chief financial officer is reviewing past budgets to look for more ways to save money. The general fund for 2025 is nearly $220 million, with about 61% going to classroom expenses.
This is the first of three budget meetings for the 2026 school year.
