Bristol man injured after crashing into tree

A Bristol man was injured after crashing his vehicle into a tree northeast of the city.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 25, near the intersection of County Road 2 and County Road 23.
Deputies say a 2013 Ford Explorer driven by the 45-year-old man was headed south on County Road 23 when it failed to stop at the intersection and struck a tree. The driver suffered lacerations to his leg and face.
Investigators say Peters initially left the scene but was later located at Elkhart General Hospital. Officers administered field sobriety tests, which showed signs of impairment. A blood draw was conducted, and results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
