A Logansport man was killed in a crash involving a school bus and pickup truck along State Road 22 near County Road 400 East.
The collision happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6 when a school bus traveling north on County Road 400 East entered the intersection behind another vehicle and was struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound Dodge Ram. The impact caused the bus to hit a construction worker directing traffic in the work zone.
The worker, identified as Aaron M. Esparza, 31, of Logansport, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Howard County Coroner’s Office.
The bus driver suffered a minor injury, and none of the eight children on board were hurt.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police continue to investigate, though authorities say alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
