A man accused of a deadly shooting in Elkhart will stand trial on November 3.

39-year-old Roosevelt Lewis Jr. is charged with the September 2023 murder of Tom Moser III, who was found shot multiple times in the entryway of an apartment on South Fifth Street.

Police say Lewis, matching a witness description, ran from officers before being tased and arrested nearby.

He faces charges including murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and resisting law enforcement.

The Goshen News says Lewis, who was previously convicted of attempted murder in 2003, raised concerns in court about due process and discovery issues.

The November 3 trial date was confirmed.
