The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death discovered at a home in the 11000 block of Born Street.

Deputies were called around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, for a welfare check. When no one answered the door, deputies looked through a window and saw a man lying on the kitchen floor.

Attempts to enter the home were initially blocked by several dogs, prompting assistance from Cass County Animal Control. Once the animals were removed, deputies entered the residence and found a woman inside with injuries.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment. Deputies confirmed the man seen earlier was deceased.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 269-445-2481 or the Cass County Tip Line at 1-800-462-9328.
