Michigan City Police are investigating a double homicide after two adults were found dead inside a home.

According to authorities, the investigation began around 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, when LaPorte County deputies responded to a reported vehicle crash at Johnson Road and County Road West 300 North in LaPorte. Deputies soon learned that a juvenile involved in the crash was suspected in connection with a double homicide at a home in the 100 block of Schofield Court in Michigan City.

That information was relayed to Michigan City Police, who immediately conducted a welfare check at the home. Officers discovered two deceased adults inside the residence. Detectives from the Investigative Division were called to the scene and began collecting evidence.

Police say the juvenile has been detained, and criminal charges are pending. The identities of the victims and the suspect have not been released. Investigators say this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
