Winter Storm Warning in effect through 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for St. Joseph, LaPorte, Marshall and Starke Counties in Indiana and for Berrien County in Michigan. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Elkhart, Kosciusko, Fulton and Pulaski Counties in Indiana.

Sunday is when the colder air arrives. Rain and snow is possible through the day. By mid- to late-morning, the system rain/snow exits the area, leaving behind lake-effect rain and snow showers. This transitions to just snow showers by Sunday night and Monday. This window of time is when parts of the area have the potential to see quickly accumulating snow on the range of several inches in a localized area. At this point, 4-6″ of snow is possible for areas west of US-31. But that will be heavily dependent on a number of factors, including just how chilly temperatures get and how long the ground will stay warm after several days in the 50s and 60s.

Everyone will experience significantly colder air by Sunday through Tuesday, with high temperatures in the mid- 30s to 40 at best. That means morning lows will be even colder, with the coldest mornings arriving Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Those days will feature lows in the 20s, but feel-like temperatures will be in the teens out the door in the morning.
