OWI arrest made after traffic stop in Goshen; juveniles taken into custody

An 18-year-old Elkhart man was arrested following a traffic stop that led to an operating while intoxicated investigation, according to police.
Officers stopped a vehicle around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, near U.S. 33 and Kulp Avenue in Goshen for an equipment and moving violation. During the stop, officers determined the driver, Evan Michael Walters, 18, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Police said Walters submitted to a certified chemical test, and a blood draw was obtained. Test results are pending. Walters was taken into custody and transported to the Elkhart County Jail.
During the investigation, two juvenile males who were also in the vehicle were arrested on allegations of dangerous possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana. They were transported to the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center.
