Berrien County Animal Services is celebrating the holiday season by waiving all pet adoption fees through Wednesday, Dec. 24, in an effort to help more dogs and cats find permanent homes.
The fee waiver is supported by Best Friends Animal Society and applies to all adoptable pets, which will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption.
The promotion will conclude with a “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” Open House on Wednesday, Dec. 24, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at the shelter. The free community event will feature Christmas music, holiday cookies, and opportunities to meet adoptable dogs and cats. Berrien County Animal Services is located at 1400 S. Euclid Ave. in Benton Harbor.
The open house will also highlight foster opportunities. Shelter officials say foster families are urgently needed to provide temporary, quiet homes for pets during the holidays and beyond. Fostering is free, with the shelter covering food, supplies, and veterinary care. Foster volunteers help pets adjust to home life while providing valuable insight that helps match animals with permanent adopters.
More information about adoption and fostering is available through Berrien County Animal Services or at the Dec. 24 open house.
