Better Business Bureau warns of gift card scam

The Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Indiana is warning shoppers about holiday gift card scams.

Scammers may reveal a card’s code and use the money before the recipient can, or place their own barcode on the card so any added funds go to them instead of the person you’re buying for.

BBB marketing manager Megan White says to inspect the packaging carefully for tears or unusual wrinkles before purchasing.

The best way to avoid being scammed is to check the card thoroughly before buying.
