A South Bend man has been charged following a reported exchange of gunfire at a gas station late last month.
According to the South Bend Police Department, officers were called around 8:10 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2025, to the Logan Quick Mart Marathon gas station at 333 S. Logan St. after reports that two men were shooting at each other.
Police say they found damage to the front of the building and near the north entrance, along with shell casings inside the store and in the parking lot. Witnesses told officers that Brandon Taylor exited a GMC Denali SUV, stood near the entrance with a handgun, and fired into the gas station. A man inside the store reportedly fired back. No injuries were reported.
On Dec. 31, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Cleveland Avenue, where Taylor was arrested. Investigators say Taylor admitted being at the gas station around the time of the shooting and possessing a 9-millimeter handgun, but denied firing back and said he did not know the other shooter.
Taylor is charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony, and attempted battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony. His initial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21. The investigation remains ongoing.
