Teen passenger killed in two-vehicle crash on State Road 13

A 17-year-old boy, identified was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 13, east of Goshen, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25 when investigators as a northbound 2010 Chrysler Town and Country driven by a 17-year-old Nappanee boy slid left of center on ice and snow and collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Freightliner semi driven by a 34-year-old man.

JayDee Miller of Elkhart, who was a passenger in the Chrysler, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The teen driver of the Chrysler sustained a minor head injury and was transported to Memorial Hospital. The truck driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Team.
