Two 21-year-old men are facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after Elkhart Police executed a search warrant at an apartment on Links Drive and recovered several firearms and drugs.

According to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office, officers served the warrant around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at an apartment in the 2500 block of Links Drive. During the search, police reported finding several handguns, an AR-style pistol, and a Draco firearm. Investigators say two of the recovered Glock handguns were equipped with Glock switches, devices that can convert a semi-automatic handgun into a firearm capable of firing multiple rounds with a single trigger pull.

Police also reported seizing about 129 grams of marijuana, multiple THC products, and drug paraphernalia from inside the residence.

Two men were arrested at the apartment and later charged.

Joedward Bynum Jr., 21, of Elkhart, is charged with two counts of Possession of a Machine Gun, both Level 5 felonies, along with Possession of Marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. His bond was previously set at $100,000.

Jalen D. Bynum, 21, of Elkhart, faces two counts of Possession of a Machine Gun, both Level 5 felonies, Neglect of a Dependent, a Level 6 felony, Possession of Marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. His bond was also previously set at $100,000.

Both men were booked into the Elkhart County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
