A South Bend man has been sentenced in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in the summer of 2024.
On Thursday, Feb. 12, 19-year-old Cyjarron Odynski was sentenced for the July 2024 murder of 20-year-old Isaiah Walton-Davis, also of South Bend.
Police were originally called to the 3600 block of Sample Street after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire. Officers arrived to find Walton-Davis suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.
Investigators with the South Bend Police Violent Crimes Unit identified Odynski — who was 18 at the time — as the suspect. He was arrested days later and charged with murder. Authorities also filed an escape charge tied to an earlier case involving the Juvenile Justice Center.
Last month, Odynski pleaded guilty to murder.
He was sentenced to 60 years, with 50 years to be served in the Indiana Department of Correction, followed by 10 years suspended and five years of probation.
