U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has taken action against the employer, school, and certifier of an illegal immigrant responsible for a fatal crash that claimed the lives of four people in Jay County, Indiana.
The Trump administration is cracking down on lax standards that allowed illegal immigrants to enter the trucking industry.
The Department of Transportation shut down the trucker’s employer, A.J. Partners, along with two carriers and a school involved in certifying him.
The collision, earlier this month, resulted in the deaths of four Amish construction workers.
The four men from Bryant, Indiana, lost their lives in the accident when a semi swerved and collided head-on with their van.
The semi driver, a Kyrgyzstan national, was taken into custody by the Jay County Sheriff’s Office and handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The semi driver entered the country is late 2023 using the CBP One app, which has since been revoked by the Trump administration.
