A Goshen man who authorities say was living in the United States illegally has been sentenced in federal court for using a false Social Security number.
Forty-year-old Donald Obando-Obando, a citizen of Nicaragua, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Cristal C. Brisco after pleading guilty to felony misuse of a Social Security number, according to U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred.
Court records show Obando-Obando used another person’s name and Social Security number to obtain employment and open a bank account.
He was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay $4,996.11 in restitution.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Homeland Security Investigations.
