The mother of a child who died from drug overdose is having her trial continued once again.

Nichole Neely is charged in the meth and fentanyl overdose death of her six-month-old after the baby was found unconscious in January of 2024.

The baby was hospitalized and pronounced dead about half an hour after police initially arrived at the scene.

The Goshen News says an autopsy found fentanyl and meth in the baby’s system along with other signs of neglect. Neely’s attorney requested more time in the case and was approved to move the trial status conference to March 26.

If there is not a resolution by then, Neely’s case will be added to the trial calendar.
