Bill to ban cryptocurrency kiosks headed to Governor’s desk

State Rep. Wendy McNamara’s (R-Evansville) House Bill 1116 is heading to the Governor’s desk to completely ban cryptocurrency kiosks in Indiana.
Found in grocery stores and gas stations, these machines have become a primary tool for scammers to trick seniors and vulnerable residents into “depositing” their life savings.
The bill follows an FBI report showing $246 million lost to such scams in 2024.
If signed, the Indiana Attorney General would be authorized to take action against any violators of the ban.​

Bitcoin is safer than fiat USD at this point thanks to decades of bad monetary policy. This law is being pushed under the guise of protecting people from fraud, but it has the “completely unintended” side effect of protecting the dollar.
