An Elkhart school bus driver accused of being impaired while working has been fired.
The issue came up in January after someone filed a complaint. The district placed the driver on unpaid leave, and state police began investigating.
The driver, Lisa Wig, has faced similar accusations before. In 2021, she worked briefly as a bus monitor for Concord schools and was let go about a month later after being reported for smelling like alcohol at work.
School records say she broke rules that ban employees from using or having alcohol or drugs while on the job or on school property.
She’s also accused of working while under the influence. State police are still wrapping up their investigation and plan to send their findings to the county prosecutor.
