A woman accused of neglect after her special needs infant was hospitalized is seeing her jury trial delayed.

Destiny Gritzmaker was scheduled to stand trial Monday on a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. Instead, a judge continued the case to May 4, with a status conference set for April 2.

Police say her 8-month-old, who previously suffered an anoxic brain injury and required tracheostomy and feeding tubes, was hospitalized in May 2023 with a displaced tube and low oxygen levels.

According to The Goshen News, court documents allege the child was dirty, suffering seizures and showed signs of ongoing improper care.

The defense says it is still awaiting expert review of key medical records.
