16-year-old shot, killed in South Bend; Police investigating homicide

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a homicide after a 16-year-old was found shot and killed Wednesday evening.

Officers were called around 5 p.m. on March 4 to the 1300 block of Dubail Street following reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite efforts by first responders, the teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity as they work to notify next of kin.

Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing. Officers are asking the public to avoid the area while detectives continue their work.
