The family of the 17-year-old boy killed in an officer-involved shooting at High Dive Park, last month, is organizing a petition calling for an independent federal and state review of the officer-involved shooting that resulted in his death.
Organizers say signatures will be collected across Elkhart County in the coming weeks. The petition calls for structural reforms to ensure impartial oversight and long-term accountability within the county’s law enforcement system. Supporters say the effort aims to promote transparency, ensure an impartial review, and restore public trust.
The first signature-gathering event is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elkhart Civic Plaza. The petition is also available online, though organizers encourage Elkhart County residents to sign in person, noting local signatures carry greater weight. Volunteers interested in assisting may contact J4B.LLB@gmail.com.
