A South Bend man is facing felony charges following a months-long investigation into suspected methamphetamine dealing conducted by the Indiana State Police.
Investigators served a search warrant around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at a residence in the 400 block of Birdsell Street on the city’s west side.
Police say the search warrant was the result of an investigation that began in November 2025 after authorities received a tip from a concerned citizen.
During the search, officers reported finding suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, controlled-substance pills, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the home.
Following the search, 49-year-old Carter Scutchfield of South Bend was arrested.
Scutchfield was booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on preliminary charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony.
