A Shipshewana couple charged in a catalytic converter case were unable to enter guilty pleas.

Brian and Amy Howard attempted to plead guilty to amended charges of criminal trespass, but the judge declined to accept the plea, saying the court could not clearly identify a specific victim tied to the charge.

Investigators say the couple operated Howard Salvaging near Bristol and allegedly accepted stolen catalytic converters without proper identification or paperwork.

The Goshen News says police reported finding hundreds of converters on the property.

Because the pleas were rejected, their jury trials were moved from April 6 to June 15, with additional hearings scheduled in April and May.
