Yard waste season in South Bend begins March 30 and runs through early December.

Residents can sign up for weekly pickup for six dollars a month and receive a 48 or 96 gallon yard waste bin.

Collection will take place on regular trash days. Officials remind residents to place only grass, leaves, small twigs and branches in bins.

Contaminated loads may be sent to the landfill and could result in a warning or a fee on a future bill.

Collected yard waste is turned into compost and mulch available free for self-loading at the city’s Organic Resources facility.
