A jury has convicted a man on multiple felony charges involving crimes against children following a three-day trial in LaPorte County.
Randy Hurt was found guilty on March 26 in Superior Court 1 of a Level 3 felony, Level 5 felony, and Level 6 felony. Jurors deliberated for approximately two hours before reaching their verdict.
Hurt will be sentenced at a later date.
The case stems from an investigation that began in October 2024 by the Michigan City Police Department. Detectives launched the investigation after receiving a report from authorities.
According to officials, the investigation included a forensic interview and a background check of Hurt, which revealed he was a non-compliant registered sex offender.
