A Michigan City man has been sentenced in federal court on drug and firearm charges.
33-year-old Jalen Wilson received 70 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to distributing fentanyl and unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Court documents say Wilson sold fentanyl on two occasions and, in a separate incident, sold a firearm equipped with a machinegun conversion device.
Officials say he was prohibited from possessing a weapon due to a prior federal felony conviction involving heroin distribution.
Federal authorities say the case highlights ongoing efforts to combat fentanyl trafficking and remove illegal firearms and dangerous weapon modifications from local communities.
